Europe Calling: EIC Unveils €20 Million Gateway Fund for Ukrainian Deep-Tech Innovators

The European Innovation Council (EIC) is opening a new, decisive chapter in its support for Ukraine’s tech ecosystem with the launch of a landmark €20 million funding program. Aimed at the nation’s most ambitious deep-tech startups and SMEs, this initiative builds on the momentum of the successful “Seeds of Bravery” project and is designed to accelerate the next wave of Ukrainian innovation.

The program is a strategic move to not only fuel the growth of Ukrainian companies but also to weave them deeply into the fabric of the European innovation ecosystem. The core mission is to provide the critical investment and support needed for these ventures to scale their groundbreaking solutions and conquer new markets.

Who is the EIC looking for?

This initiative targets deep-tech startups and SMEs poised to make a significant impact. The EIC is seeking companies with highly effective, innovative technologies, products, or business models that have the potential to create new markets or disrupt existing ones. Ambitious founders who are ready to scale globally are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • A substantial grant from the EIC, ranging from €300,000 to €500,000.
  • Complimentary access to the prestigious EIC Business Acceleration Services, offering elite coaching, mentorship, and networking events tailored to their specific needs.
  • A coveted spot in the Fast Track to the EIC Accelerator program, opening the door to even larger grants and direct equity investments from the EIC.

Key Requirements for Applicants:

  • Must be classified as an SME (including startups).
  • Must be registered in Ukraine, OR have been initially registered in Ukraine and relocated to an EU or Horizon Europe associated country after February 24, 2022.
  • At least one founder, co-founder, or C-level executive (CEO, CTO, CSO) must be a Ukrainian citizen.
  • The project’s Technology Readiness Level (TRL) should be between 4 and 7.
